100 miles! 100 bikes! 100 teams!
Together we hope to raise $1 million to send inner city kids to camp!

It is the vision of the Harold Robinson Foundation to provide a level playing field for our community's underserved children. At Camp Ubuntu, children from under-served, inner city schools & organizations get the opportunity to experience nature, play, sports, use team-work, learn goal-setting, eat nutritious food and receive mentorship from exceptional counselors. These programs are designed to strengthen confidence and independence, build character and develop leadership skills. In addition to “Camp Ubuntu” sleep away camp retreats, the Harold Robinson Foundation brings summer day camp to Markham Middle School in Watts, provides parenting classes, and other programs that help build community in a positive way.

When I was growing up, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to camp every summer.  There are so many things about camp that have shaped who I am as an adult. It was there that I learned to play guitar, I faced my fears on the ropes course, and first began to step out of the shell that was my young, shy self.  At camp we felt so far away from the world we knew, that we were able to stop and enjoy the world around us in a whole new way.  Even as kids in this day and age, with technology being what it is and many of these children never having left LA county, the opportunity to escape is truly priceless.  To join together with those that aren't from your neighborhood, to experience love and support in a safe place, and to be free to simply be a kid - these are things many of the children living in our inner cities never experience.  These are things every child deserves.  These are the moments that shape us into the adults we will become.

In support of this foundation, I am participating in the Pedal on the Pier fundraiser. Our team will ride (in place) on a stationary bike for 5 hours/ 100 miles on the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday, June 4, 2017. I would be most grateful if you could support my efforts with a tax-deductible donation of ANY size.

Thank you for supporting our effort in trying to make a difference in a child's life.
